I made some really good progress over the past couple days. The cage cut and bent from the cad model is amazing compared to coping all the tubes by hand. I will never go back to that method!
The intake is an evo8 mivec cam gear. I designed and machined that fitting and drove the fuel pump off the exhaust cam in the laser, and that piece is still on it for now. This truck will be a cable drive to a fuel pump and tank in the bed.
From the questions above:The only add to the frame is the temporary bar across the frame to position the trans tail shaft. I’m removing that today. These are oem 300m coils, from a Chrysler 300m. I do not know if there are distinctions besides that. The Laser is retired, it is being stored...
This is a project we have been working on since November 2020. The engine from the Laser is going into a RWD Toyota Tacoma, mated to a 10R80 Ford transmission. This cage is going to be a 25.3 and the truck will be at similar power capability to the Laser. This thread is to chronicle and...
This is digging back about 13 years! The target at launch is to just roll the tires over some. If it stands up on the tire with a lot of spin right at the hit, you are running too much 2-step rpm. Since this was originally written, I’ve seen a bunch of cars leave very strong at lower rpm and...
You could absolutely set up the shifter to be reverse pattern. All shifting L-2-D is electronic and all of these positions have the same physical hydraulic scenario in the transmission. Most of the fast guys are having their ECU's shift their cars. I gave into that trend in 2019 and really...
Are you seeing this with a timing light or in a data log? The ecu tweaks idle rpm using timing. Is the timing check wire grounded? It’s been a long time since I’ve touched one, but I believe it is on the firewall.
