^ I don't why you would do all that. The couplers are good quality and I have never had a problem with mine. Only a couple of my clamps broke and I replaced then with Vibrant clamps. Works great.
Bro! I was wondering if you were updating about the car. Looks like this is where you have been doing it. I just went back through this whole thread and it blows my mind how many parts have been destroyed by the monster. Get that thing running in time for the world cup in November!;)
While I understand where you are trying to come from, your rationale is still flawed. Any engine making more than twice the horsepower it came with from the factory, is a race engine and should be treated as such. With most DSMers building their cars for 400+ horsepower, considerations should be...

A stage 2 TRE comes with a new fork, pivot ball, and is shimmed already. To the OP, you may want to try a couple more tricks with with adjusting the rod length. Also, have you checked your clutch pedal assembly? They can wear out over time on 1G's, not sure about the GVR4's, but thought I...
We sometimes go down to the Sonic meets on Patton on Saturday night. The next important event is the Import Showdown in Rynolds, GA in November. Lots of DSMers from the southeast show up for that.
There VRSF kit is in the same class as the CX/PR kit. Bottom line, for the horsepower level the OP is wanting to acheive a budget FMIC kit will be fine, especially the PR kit.
I have driven both 1g and 2g FWD DSMs with Fidanza flywheels and both were very managable on the street. You just have to adjust your driving style a bit. Also, dont forget to pick up one of these install kits from FP.Forced Performance Turbochargers: DSM Aluminum Flywheel Hardware Kit
