ok listen up this is a stupid question to post in an all dsm site. ok i own a 97 eclipse spyder gs. as you know you cant do much to the enigne part of that car. i pulled into a toyota dealership today and looked at a used celica gts and accord. the guy asked how much i wanted to pay for it and of course i said zero!!! well his response was ill trade you even. i was like whoa!!! so if i wanted to which should i choose my car the celica or the accord. lil info on the cars. the celica was what i could tell completely stock and i believe auto, the accord was manual not sure which engine and it had a nice exhaust on it on some 17's it was black and the celica was mdnight blue. what should i do?????

Straight up non turbo DSM for a celica or an accord.. I would still say no. The salesman knows what sells quickly.. He wants your eclipse because he can jack up the price on your eclipse.. Myrtle Beach area, DSM's don't sit long in lots.

I've owned a celica gts.. Yes it felt sporty, but it sucked.. I didn't like it for lack of power. 6 spd trans, isn't all it's cracked up to be, and the one your looking at you think is an auto...
Maybe you should look into finding a turbo DSM.. Don't rush it, these things pop up over time.. I searched for over 3 months to find the car that i drive today.. And i'm glad i waited, great price, turbo, convertible..

If you have your heart set on getting one of the two though, then i think i wuold have to go with the accord, simply b/c of the manual transmission, and the fact that you have the exhaust and 17's already.

what year celica...if it is 00-01 then go for it...your car is probably only worth 9000 on the private party. I love the look of the new celicas, but there isn't a whole lot of engine stuff you can do to those either. And accords what year is that one and is it a coupe or 4dr? if it is a 98-02 coupe...those are nice I like those as well. But the engine in them isn't worth anything unless you turbo it...so plan on doing a swap if you want power.

wow.. he will let u do a straight trade from ur spyder to a celica or accord? i didnt know dealerships do that.. wow..

anyways.. i would say celica gts right away.. but considering its auto.. u might reconsider it.. the gts 6 speed 00,01, 03 are good cars stock.. but thats about it.. nothing much u can do to it as far as power.. but u can make it look faster :) (hot one since i had a celica gts)..

the accord.. hmm.. well its a family car.. u can make it fast considering it is a honda but its gonna cost $$$$$.. i would just hold off and wait till better choices arise..

Yah why not ask him to buy it from you get a good price from him, take the money payoff what you owe and put the rest down on a Turbo DSM!!!! Celica GTS i mean come on, what does a car with 170hp need a 6-speed for!!!!!!

trade for the celica...then sell it for more than your eclipse is worth...would that work? i dont know what the celicas price would be..but i would think it would be more than the eclipse is worth..and then buy a turbo dsm:thumb:...just my thoughts

unless you still owe money on yoru car like me...I dont know ha

i really dont want to trade, the only reson is because you really cant do anything to a 2.4 liter engine. i wish i could find a turbo spyder for sale!! and no i dont owe anything on my car paid off!!!!!!:D :dsm:

Just wait it out. I looked for 5 months before finding my car and it paid of. I had a 01 Grand am GT with 18,000 miles and traded straight for a 97 GST with 35,000 miles ($10,000 was the projected number). it is paid for and I can do all types of stuff now with my DSM that I would have had to pay BIG $ for with the other.

I would put it up in the AUTOTRADER.com and sell it to someone, turn around and buy a nice one for that amount from someone on the smae site.

Just wait or I promise you will kick yourself in the ass AGAIN for not going with a TURBO DSM of ANY KIND. Just think of how bad you want a Turbo now. Well after all the paper work is done on a trade for that celica or accord, you are still stuck with a PERMANENT PROBLEM and that is.......NO TURBO.

(I not yelling at you with the uppercase, just trying to show some emphasis.)

Good luck and wait it out! (Trust the general consensus on the site!)

marco @ magnus sells a 2.4L turbo engine.... it's a 4g64/4g63 hybrid, ... not sure how much of an option that is for you, but it's just an example

A freind of mine is building a 4G64 right now. Its going to be in magazines soon because it will be the only 1G RWD in existance. If you don't think you can do much with the 4G64 then you are sadly mistaken. The parts for the 4G64 and 4G63 are practically interchangable. If I were you I would a turbo DSM though and go to monkeywrenchracing.com and buy a 2.3L stroker. It only costs 2000.00.

"The much underestimated AT DSM. Thats right AT"

If it's a GT-S auto you should really want to walk away fast. I've owned both the auto and now currently the 6 speed. The difference is completely night and day. They may share the same name and trim but the way they drive is completely different. The GT-S NEEDS six gears to take advantage of its engine and the four speed auto doesn't cut it.

I would listen to everyone else when they say hold out for the turbo Eclipse. The Celica is fun but it's aftermarket doesn't even scratch the surface of how deep the DSM's go. And with that said the Celica won't ever see the same numbers as DSM without some MAJOR money.

As for me I've been around for a while, just don't post much yet cause I don't have my DSM but this thread caught my eye.. hahaha.
