first off I would like to state that I am only a customer, I am not a member of Carolina DSM nor am I getting anything from them for reviewing this. with that crap outta the way here goes:
Price: $175 + $100 core charge
Very fair, Ive seen other 60 mm TBs going for $200+
the TB came polished, and the intake was port mached for the TB
Mine was this much because I did not supply the Jeep TB or eclipse intake manifold. Also came with the needed gaskets.
Delivery: 3 weeks
Not bad at all, to make it and ship during the holiday mail rush, 3 weeks is a very good turn around time.
Install: 2 hours (maybe more maybe less for you)
Install took me longer then it should have, my father's garage is filled to the brim with tools, just not many metric ones. Nothing uncommon to install, only thing I didnt have was a 2foot extention, but a buncha smaller ones hooked together did the job.
And now the part you wanted to read:
Performance.
WOW! Throttle response is incredible, it feels like Im driving a 5-Speed again, when the car shifts instead of dropping to 3K like it used to it now hangs alot closer to the 4K mark, VASTLY inproving acceleration. It used to take a stretch of road to get up to a hundred, it takes alot less time now, but the long straight roads were too busy for me to go any faster (to all you "speeding that fast is illegal people" If I dont go 80, I get passed like Im sitting still)
The intake makes a "whistling" noise fromt he sheer amount of air being pulled through, using my S-AFC I determed that it occurs around 2150 RPM and thorttle at 14.5%. Speaking of my AFC, I returned the fuel curve back to 0% correction across the board. After the Jeepie was installed the A/F gauge ran closer to stoich then when the stock Tb was on (it ran rich). I will be tuning my car to get a closer to stoich reading.
I am positive that I will get even more gains when I tune the fuel to the new TB.
Overall I am EXTREMELY pleased with the product, and I would whole heartedly endorse it to others, its one of the best dollar to performance mods Ive done to my car and will be even better when I go turbo come tax time.
If anyone has any questions, dont hesitate to post here.
