How far has a 6-bolt/95 pistons setup gone?

How far can a 6-bolt with 95 pistons take you reliably? Without putting too much stress. I don't think I am going to go all out with my motor now. I going to go with a cheaper setup. I have heard good to 450 HP? low 12s possibly high 11s? I don't think I am ever going to hit 11s, nor low 12s. I am just curious. Thanks in advance.
 
I do agree with DSMu4ia but you are exaggerating just a bit. I would recommend that for anything under 500 hp to the wheels. This motor works VERY well for a street car especially when you are on a limited budget. But I said that to you awhile ago Hobbes....
 
Most of these people actually USE their cars, and DRIVE them quite frequently, so putting 20k on a car a year is not out of a realistic goal.

When you are talking about a forged motor getting 20-30k before it needs freshened, compared with a stock spec'd motor doing 100k (at the VERY least), it doesn't look like a smart idea, especially to someone who will never make 400hp.

Plus he asked me HOW FAR it has gone, and the farthest I've heard of is, 10's in AWD's, 9's in Buschur's old Yellow RWD, and 550whp by BJ of BJ's Cylinder Head.

THIS IS WHEN A 20G WAS CONSIDERED A FULL RACE TURBO. THESE WERE THE GOOD OL' DAYS, WHEN THE DSM CROWD WAS A COMMUNITY, NOW IT'S JUST SOME FAST GUYS, THE OLD SCHOOLERS, AND A WHOLE FUXING SCHOOL BUS (x800) OF DUMBFUX.

WHY CAN'T IT GO BACK?

There's a quote that goes something like..."Things now aren't like the good old days and they never were." Because of the increasing popularity of DSMs I have made a ton of new friends and had many great experiences. This site wouldn't be here if it weren't for the dumbfux as you call them. I would say that the percentage of very smart old school DSMers that are total azzholes and don't want to share their knowledge is equivalent to the percentage of dumbfux in the new and larger community. In 2 years of being involved I can count on one hand the number of friendly DSM gurus. Just this week in promoting a local DSM meet was I insulted for even attempting to put together a meet by a couple HARDCORE OLD SCHOOL DSMers on NWDSM. This in addition to their direct attacks on this site kind of turned me off. Apparently they are two of the smartest DSM guys in the NW. They are also apparently two of the biggest pricks in the NW. Funny how everyone else I've talked to from here and DSMtalk about the meet is excited to meet other DSMers from the area and just have a good time. Maybe if some of the smarter DSM fellas would pull their 110 trapping 16Gs out of their asses I'd be more supportive of the old school movement. This is not directed at you DSMu4ia just my $.02 on the situation in general.

So if you built a engine with forged internals how often would it have to be refreshed? And what would need to be refreshed?

Because then I'd be running EFI pms, a 20G with only a 10degree clip (otherwise it won't spool :rolleyes: ), full 8an lines, sx pump, welded fuel rail for 8an fittings, ghetto rigged sx regulator, my fugly ass 221 FMIC, and a crappy clutchbastards clutch with a disc that broke. No thanks. I still have HKS cams though, at least that was a good choice.
I liked the old dsm community better, but I would NEVER EVER want to go back to the old products people ran. It's so much better now.

The dsm community has changed though. I blame it all on fast and the furious and the lowered price of DSMs. When 1Gs cost $6k 16 year olds couldn't afford them.
Not all the new people are bad though, I have met some great people that got into dsms within the last year.
