:D ahhhh I'm so anxious, finally I'm getting some things fixed that I should've had fixed when I purchased the car in Feb 2003. The 2nd gear has been grinding making it impossible to shift normally into, and the car retards timing like no other maxxing out at +13 degrees WTF.

Anyways I'm having the work done at Newlogics Motorsports. I've heard many good things about them on tuners, and I decided since I don't live at home anymore, don't have time, and use this as my daily driver, I need this to be a quick turnaround. I usually don't like to have other people work on my car but this is the only time I'll have anything big done by another persons hands.

Soooo for the new:

6-bolt Longblock Rebuilt (OEM) and Swapped
Stage II TRE Transmission
ACT 2100
ACT Streetlite XACT Flywhee
Prothane Motor Mounts

Nothing crazy but as long as it runs like it should be running now I'll be more than happy. The engine right now is just sitting waiting for the parts to arrive, and I have all the drivetrain parts. The only thing I'm waiting for right now are the mounts, I got them from ebay from supposedly a prothane distributor but who knows. Hopefully they come in by the time the motor is ready to be swapped in. Anywho, here are some pics of the trans that I just got in yesterday:

Nice nice. Good luck! Isn't it fun to have spare car parts still wrapped up laying around? They look beautiful. ROFL

Yeah, that's what I was gonna say... crack repair on the end cover.

And Paul is a good person to have work on your car.

Yeah I'm aware of the crack, Jon told me before he built it that the case had a crack on it due to wheel hop from the previous owner. He had his welder fill it in and inspect it. Hopefully the motor mounts will get prevent most of the wheel hop.

Yeah Paul is really helpful and thorough. The parts should be coming in hopefully by this coming week, I might be able to drop off my car by next Friday.

Man I hate having to wait. I finally got the prothane mounts but it took a dispute on paypal to finally receive an email from the seller and have the mounts shipped.

Also I just remembered that I have to get the thermostat housing, waterneck, and front water pipe to complete the swap. Paul said the parts are all in from SBR and that the new head should arrive so I should be able to drop off my car soon.

The talon is starting to idle strange though, I'm not sure what's going on but I had a feeling that something would go wrong right before I dropped off my car. I think it might be the IAC malfunctioning again because I replaced the previous one with a used one. or it might be a vacuum leak somewhere. It's idling like I'm running the car without the MAF plugged in.

ahhh so thats your trans sittin in pauls shop... it looks good man! Good luck with the swap, paul should take good care of ya, but watch out for vance! that mofo is crazy

Yuuup yup, that's mine. Yeah I've only heard good things about Paul so I'm looking forward to getting the work done. I really really want to get this thing to the track because it hasn't seen the track once since I've owned it because of its condition. I'll have to break in the motor/trans/clutch all at the same time though so it's gonna be a long 1k miles until I actually get a good idea how it runs. After that it's gonna be track time, probably gonna run only 15psi first time around.

You should at least get the tansmission shifter bearings too if you haven't already gotten them. I have them and the solid shiter mounts. Huge difference with better feel and less likely to grind that new tranny.

Yeah I have both sets as well as a knock off B+M SS. It shifts nicely into all gears except for 2nd, but that won't be a problem for much longer.

Ok, so the car is getting worked on as I type this, at least I hope it is. I dropped it off on Sunday but I noticed the shop was packed with cars when I came in. I talked to him earlier last week prior taking my car in, and apparently their power shut off and they had to get it fixed. It looks like it backed up some work, I'm just hoping those other cars just needed little things done to them.

I'm hoping that come Saturday it's done, if not than by mid-week next week. That would be perfect because I have spring break the following week and I can use that time to break everything in.

Looking good Matt!

You know, you could always buy my talon and have everything you need for an AWD. :)

Haha, too late now, I'm already in debt. But I talked to Paul today and the block is assembled, the head is an OEM clearwater one so it's already assembled but it was missing studs for the manifolds . Soooo once again another delay but what can you do right?

I'm going to stop by the shop tmw afternoon while I'm in the North Bay for the day just to actually see everything and maybe snap some pics with my phone. Sucks though cause I have work Tuesday so I'm gonna have to drive back to San Jose with that damn pickup and back again in the middle of the morning. I'm hoping to God, Allah, Buddha, and all the other gods that my car is done by latest Thursday so I can at LEAST do the first oil change at 100 miles.

Mind you I'm not going to do the motoman break-in or whatever it's called, I'm going to do the grandma break-in haha. So I'm shooting for Thursday (let's hope nothing goes wrong during the actual install) and getting one oil change in, then when I hit 500 I'll do another along with the transmission.

Oh I'll def PM you.

Umm but I got my car back on Thursday and there were a few issues. The 6-bolt intake manifold apparently sits higher than the 7-bolt, so my dejontool ic pipes ended up moving up with them. My fuse box is than caused to be pushed up, hitting the hood. Sooo I gotta resolve that. Also I'm getting the random misfire cel, it sucked at first but I learned how to remedy it so it's not that bad. It's hard enough not to boost while driving, but also trying to vary the RPMs too makes it even more difficult. Other than that I think I just need to adjust the clutch height and bleed the system again cause I think there are bubbles in it (pedal seems too soft). Transmission shifts nicely too!
