Am I the only one who absolutely despises changeing their clutch master cylinder?

I've done it twice now, well one and half because I still have to finish hooking up the lines and bleeding the system.

But I swear, I don't think there is a single nut on my car that is harder to get to than the top one that holds in the master cylinder. If I had a 1" extension for my socket wrench It would be 100x easier.
And if I didn't drop and loose the nut that goes on that stud everytime I'd be much happier, rather than scavenging a similar nut off of my creeper (literally checked 3 houses high and low for a matching nut).

I did my friend's a couple weeks ago. Which nut are you referring to? The one under the dash or the one from the engine bay? I had to use an elbow for the nut under the dash. The one on the firewall was a pain, because I kept dropping the nut . The first time I got lucky and found it, the second time my car decided to eat it. I ended up taking the nut off of the battery holder and used a washer. I just put some other nut on the battery holder since it is not as important and easier to get to when I got the right part. Next time I'm puttting a magnet under the master cylinder to catch it.

When I installed my clutch master cylinder for my auto to manual swap, It took droping and then also losing a nut before I stuffed a rag under there to catch the next one I dropped.
The rag also helps when bleeding.

I hated it when I did mine as well. I hope this one lasts awhile...

I had to have mine done twice.

I paid a buddy to do it at the dealership.

LOL he speaks like one inch extensions dont exist? the unicorn of car tools..... alas, the fabled one inch extension......

Well, seeing as I checked every autoparts store, and hardware store in my area for such a creature to no avail, I think I did damn well for not having one. Twice.

and yeah, dropping that nut sucks!

Hm. What to do, what to do?

I totally agree. There are so many people on here who think a simple task is hard because they first off cannot even conceive a tool that would make the job easier let alone going to the store and buying it. All you really need to do this job quickly and easily from what I remember is: 10mm open or line wrench, 1/4 drive ratchet, various extensions, and a swivel, and a couple sockets and other wrenches. If all you have is your 3/8 ratchet a few sockets and a 6" extension, then NO SHIT its gonna be hard.

You guys are wimps. Lol. Yeah it sucks, but it's deff not the worst. I did my MC change in snowing 15 degree weather with no gloves. Oh yeah, and I did it with only a street lamp for light. Eat it newbs.:p

I only had a cardboard box for my tools. And, it was uphill in both directions.

Oh yeah? Well when I was your age...

*Dangit, can't do that yet.*

I didn't think it was THAT bad..... Then again, I looked at plymouthlaser.com and made sure I had all the right tools before I got started. I didn't even use the swivels that I bought just in case, and really didn't need anything special.
