Well, I finally made my way to the dyno yesterday. I drove the 105 miles to Jackson, MI to Paul's High Performance (www.paulshp.com). They have a nice shop set up with a nice Dynojet facility.

I was pretty psyched about it, because this was the last day my car will be together and running this year, so it was a good end for 2006 and a good end to FWD.

(I want to add that the guys at Paul's were very nice. Their facility was top notch, and I would recommend their dyno service to anyone with a 2WD vehicle.)

My car has a bone stock 7-bolt block and head (even stock cams). I'm also still on the stock intake manifold and throttle body. And I'm even on the original composite head gasket and head bolts.

I ended up doing 7 pulls. The final was the 403WHP. Second best pull was 392 WHP. My first pull (baseline) was 348 WHP. Within 30 minutes of tuning, we managed to squeeze another 55 HP out of her.

Here are the specs for the 403 WHP pull:

* Acceleration from 3100 to 7100
* Absolute barometric pressure: 28.90 in. Hg.
* Vapor pressure: 0.4 in. Hg.
* Elevation: 997 ft. above sea level
* T3 50-trim @ 27.6 psi (spikes briefly at around 32 psi)
* peak timing advance: 21.4 degrees
* Injector duty cycle: 69.0% (850cc)
* Air-to-fuel ratio: 12.3:1 (on 110 octane Sunoco)
* Airflow: 47.5 lbs/min
* Peak power: 403.4 WHP
* Peak torque: 356.9 ft/lbs

On this run I saw about 1.8 degrees of knock (roughly 5 counts). And on my 392 WHP run, there was zero knock.

After the baseline pull (348 HP), we raised the timing from 16* to 19* and gained 10HP. Then we upped the boost from 23 to about 25 and added another degree of timing - gained about 15HP and still no knock. So we cranked the boost to a little over 27 psi and two more degrees of timing and pulled 392. I was determined to hit 400, so we let it cool for about 10 min and came back for a money shot. That's when we netted the 403 WHP. Had it not been so humid, I think we could have broke 410HP pretty easily. Cams and an SMIM will be next on the list. :sneaky:

I'll get some videos hosted later today, and I'll link them here.

Well done Paul! I think with cams and an SMIM you should be able to drop the timing a bit and pull 400 like nobody's business on pump gas. Congrats!

Congrtas on the nice numbers man. Your car was one of the first cars I admired after becoming a member and I always wondered why you never have any dyno numbers in your profile.

I attempted to go to the dyno yesterday to get some baseline numbers before i start doin serious upgrades, but found out they were out of business... oh well, I guess I can wait to find out the embarrassing results. Congrats on the numbers man!!

403whp, very nice Paul, will be a beast on the street with a SMIM, cams, and AWD.
Congrats,

Dustin

This is kind of a dumb question but is your car featured in some magazine ads? I swear I have seen it before.

He was featured in the magazine ads for TIRE RACK. There is a thread on here about it too. Just a little searchy searchy and you will find it.
