Brute makes a mean MSPaint diagram.

Here's my MSPaint contribution to the MBC installation subject, with specific regards to the high performance TurboXS MBC:

I am pm'ing Derek to see if he wishes to use these any of these photos in his write-up.

I just added the part about how a MBC works last night. I was responding to someone's question, and I figured it's good info that no one seems to know. So I copy/pasted it from my reply to my Tech Article. Anthony, the last two are sweet. I'll see if I can get a picture or two of my set up as well, it might be more clear.

If you didn't notice, the last two are the same photo, with the obvious exception that the last one is altered. But I'm sure you noticed. Sounds good.

Here are a few more pictures that I took yesterday morning, but utilized a light so it more effectively illuminated this particular section of the engine bay.

What turbo is that? I don't have anywhere to tap into on mine for the controller. Was that tapped by you? My boost controller is tee'd with the bov and I wanted to try this to see if it really makes a difference.

My 2 cents

I had my MBC connected directly between the j pipe and the waste gate and I could not keep the boost steady. One day it would be high the next day it would be low.
The guy I bought the MBC from recomends the the BOV line, so I moved it to see if it made any difference.

At least with my setup, the BOV line works better, set it once and have not had to keep messing with it.

What MBC was used?

I will agree that sourcing from the BOV (longer vacuum lines) would reduce fluctuations. However, a good MBC will not be effected by them. My Hallman is rock steady sourcing from the turbine housing.....18" total of line involved.

Plus there are many threads related to the proper source for a MBC and why.

If you're refering to my posts, that is the T-25 turbo. No, it was not tapped by me. That is the OEM nipple.

Not sure If I have good MBC then....
I have an ebay Voodoo MBC. Read all of the threads and put a nipple close to the turbo on my j pipe. Total inches of hose when I was running it between the j pipe and the wastegate - maybe 12 inches....

It just seems a LOT more stable connected to my BOV line.

That's interesting. I have a T-28 and I didn't notice that on mine. I'll take a closer look at it again in a little while. I don't have any problems with my boost fluctuating so I probably won't worry about it.

Sorry to bring this back up, I'm already aware of how the preferred connection is compressor housing/outlet pipe and of course the wastegate, hell I even commented on it above.

I'm setting up a car that doesn't have a nipple on the compressor housing or jpipe/outlet, would connecting the line to the intake pipe be a similar affair? I have a nipple that is capped off, its the one the stock BCS uses.

I know if not, drill a hole and tap a brass nipple fitting, just seeing if its possible to avoid that. Thanks

No, your intake pipe does not see boost because it's before the turbo.
