Here is the deal:

I'm running link v1, I have not upgraded to v2. I also bought the setup used and do not have a user account for the forums and being that its snowing/cold as sh!t outside I'm not in the mood to go and dig up my serial # in order to get my account activated.

I'm also running it in conjunction with MAFT v2.1 on a 6bolt swap, stock 1g internals (don’t ask) along with a jdm cyclone intake mani CORRECTLY working.

Before I did the swap, I was getting 21mpg with just the MAFT on 550's around town easy. 28 mpg on the highway no problem. Read my profile for addt'l mods.

After the swap + link install, I have been getting around 25 mpg on the highway, and 14-16 mpg in the city. And this is with my grandma like driving, over 2k on the motor, and my stock 450's (blackgsx2g & 99gst_racer, 2 very good friends, can attest to all of the above)

Matt (blackgsx2g) and I have been discussing reasons why and after double checking everything and installing a new Denso 02 sensor (mine had around 50k on it, needed to be done anyway) still cannot figure it out. We both feel it is in the tune, knowing that right now its setup slightly rich, but not to the point were I should be getting 14mpg in the city.

My question/issue is this: I understand that link compensates for fuel adjustments at WOT and that it leaves the off-WOT adjustments to the ECU; but how does one adjust fuel trims in the mid/cruising range? I loved that part about MAFT, b/c my gas mileage sky rocketed around town by 3mpg and on the highway by 2mpg. And Matt, running almost the same setup when he had his evo3, without link, on a 6bolt, was averaging 25mpg city/highway. I'd also like to note that I ditched roughly 100lbs during the swap, which should help with better mpg. And I would also like to state that I only run Shell 93 V-power, nothing but, the difference in knock and consistency in tuning is not even comparable to when I use BP or Meijer crap.

So, would really fine tuning the WOT settings on Link help out more in the mid-throttle department? Or should I use the MAFT adjustments and just log/adjust and leave the WOT alone? I'm wondering how much messing with the signal sent from the MAF sensor to the ECU prior to it reaching it on off-WOT situations will end up affecting it in WOT situations.

TIA

you fine tune it with your fuel trims using the global and deadtime adjustments. i havent gotten into that yet so dont ask me how to do it:p

Grab your serial number and get it transferred over to yourself. There are a few threads about this on the DSMLink forums, but given that a number of people have taken to pirating the EPROMs... well, just say that if you're there, it's known that you actually have a legal copy. :)

I don't recall if maf compensation was available in v.1. Either way, get v.2, a wideband and map sensor. Calibrate the maft and tune the part throttle to 14.7.
