Got around to finally doing the blue LEDs in the gauge cluster last week. Sorry for the crappy pics, but you can tell it turned out alright :) I didn't really follow the crowd on this one, I actually added an additional 12 LEDs in the cluster to add to the brightness. I did this because I was not satisfied with LEDs in the normal spots. I like how it turned out.

damn that look great, i've seen another guy that this but he did the a/c controls too.

PS: i think you might be overheating a little bit LOL

Looks good. Did you use special wide angle LEDs or the standard 5mm 12 degree ones?

I think you should make a tech article. I have the indiglo blue (The whole gauge lights up blue  ) they came with the car, But if i knew how to do what you're posting, I'd definatly do it. And, You would get some good rep points :sneaky:

Oh yes that looks really good man! :thumb:

Yea you might have a little over heating problem going on there.

very nice job :thumb: i did mine but i put the led's right under the needles to illuminate the needles...but my gauges already light up blue so no need to change the other bulbs in there...

Thanks for the compliments guys ;)

Luckily LEDs have a very minimal heat output, I'm sure they would have burned through the plastic already if they heated up like normal bulbs :D

I did my HVAC controls (as well as the "impossible" a/c button ;) ), and put a couple in my center vents as well. I'm planning to replace the door-open lights on the floor, and put LEDs in the vents on the doors too. But I had to stop myself before my whole car ended up being torn apart :coy:

Yeah, I used the 5mm LEDs, but I sanded down the tops, almost to the metal to get a wider light distribution.

For the needles, I sanded off the orange paint with 1000 grit sandpaper, came right off. I put LEDs by the gas and temp gauges to help with illumination, but this was unneccesary for the speedo and tach, as there was already enough LEDs around them to illuminate them.

I'll post some pics of my HVAC and center vent tonight when I get home. :dsm: :talon:

damn i wish i would have found those 7000mcd led's off of ebay before i bought the 5000mcd ones...but the 5000mcd ones work just fine...except on my hvac controls....the switch for outside air and inside air circulation doesnt light up that great...and i have 2 leds in there...must be the way that they are positioned inside the hole...but oh well...it still looks nice...ive been wanting to put leds in the vents but I have a different idea im going to try that ive never seen anyone else do before so im saving my vents for that idea...yeah the impossible a/c button wasnt impossible at all...

That indeed looks awesome. Nice even coverage on the light output. I've seen a too many ppl try this mod and they don't get the even coverage.....leaving faded sections on the gauges.

Really nice. :)

What did you do about the orange film on the back of the gauges? I was under the impression that the blue wouldnt work as well with the film on there. did you sand all of the gauges or does the blue just over power the orange film?
-Rob

I know that this is an old post, but i've got a few questions. First off, how did you get those stupid needles off of the gauges? Second, did you sand off the orange, or did the blue just shine straight through it? And last of all, how do you get that snowflake a/c button out of the HVAC?

How did you change the temperature gauge to the right? And did you custom move the pictures (Fuel and Temperature), or did you have that done?

I think that might be a non-turbo car, and he got a gsx recently. But i have no clue.

i put one of the leds behind my hazards and you cant even see it. Did you sand the back or do anything else?
