i would say that looks like a great setup there. its similiar to what i'm planning, just with different brand names. but a very nice list. :thumb:

the only thing i would mention is just get a couple of gauges. you know boost, egt, oil/fuel pressure. oh i don't think i seen a boost controller or bov. two things you may want to consider.

oh i'm just curious why did you choose Megasquirt over say the popular DSMlink? I only remember hearing about Megasquirt once on this board. How is it compared to others like dsmlink or afc?

Ever thought about how much boost? pump gas or race gas? lighter rims? remember, just b/c you have all the parts you want doesn't mean you're gonna hit 11s. good luck though.

You have a pretty nice setup there. The only things I can think of are like you said an intake manifold maybe Magnus or JMFab, or even get a 1g mani extrude honed, and some headwork for even more gains(porting and polishing, upgraded valvetrain). Are you still on the 7 bolt? Maybe in the future consider a 6 bolt swap with built bottom end or even a stroker motor. But your setup now should have you deep into the 12's or high 11's. Maybe consider some suspension and brake work too to keep up with all that power. :thumb:

I can start by talking about the Megasquirt...

I chose megasquirt, why??? NEBRASKA is the megasquirt capital of the world, Parish with the 10 sec truck, Boostang ( turbo'd 4.6 ) etc etc...

It does ALMOST everything a Aem will do for a fraction of the cost... the spark/ fuel/ knock circuit/ EVERYTHING on the MS is awesome and user friendly, and its awesome to show people who dont really know about it, what it can do

I would like to have the fastest timeslip for a MS'd dsm around...

NOW...

There are tons of people saying that the 7 bolt bottom end cant handle to much power, where as with a great tune we believe that power can be pulled out of that motor....

The car is almost back together now and should be running within the next couple weeks,

All my gauges are taken care of, I didnt put those in because i figured people would understand...

Suspension wise im running... Kyb gr2's on skunk 2 coilovers wrapped with bfg T/A's

That is for sure, the car is my weekend car and will really only be driven on race nights.. It will be driven 90 percent of the time on race gas...

I know how hard it is to hit 11's i have many friends with EXTREMELY quick cars... Working on cars and getting all the bugs worked out is what I can do, and it will take time to hit my goal

Tuning wise I have that covered by some of the best out there.... I understand tuning pretty well but it will be good to have people with experience helping me out a little...

you could also try the MAFT blow-thru setup..Water/methanol injection... and even getting a stroker to bore it out to a 2.4. all that would greatly help you.

No need for a maf/maft with the setup... 3.5 bar map sensors pwn all

Right no need.

I'm thinking that you are just missing some tuning or driving to hit 11s with that setup then when you do your motor build upgrade the valvetrain and of course the bottom end.

You could also think about putting in a cage in your car with the proper safety equiptment and upgraded brakes too.

the car will be animal...

Im going to be going 2.3 with a built head, the car should be a beast... god i need a better paying job...

When you say im missing some tuning dont mistake yourself, the tuning is done by dieselgeek himself.... * boostang out of omaha nebraska,* I dont know if you guys have heard of the 10 second silverado in nebraska Jon Parish...

Scott ( dieselgeek ) is a great guy and knows his shit for sure

The internals will be stock for the rest of this season, but STOCK dsm internals are known to handle quite a bit power...

over the winter I will be building a motor and I am still trying to figure out which combo I want to go with...

any input between 2.0 -destroked 2.1, 2.3, or 2.4 would be nice

Andrew

with that turbo and what you have done (exspecially with the 35r) you should hit high 11's no prob, but im on a 6 bolt thinking too

the reason im thinking high 11's is on the stock bottom end... with a built bottom end im looking for more than that

Definitely water injection.

Oh, and ALOT of cash....

there has been alot of money put into the car the way it sits right now, what is another 10k going to hurt.... The car has come a long way in the last months and will continue too...

thanks for all the input and keep everything coming

I hear you...but I'm just trying to warn you. 11's is no easy feat. For those that have tried, no explanation is necessary. It's a live-n-learn experience.

There is no reason to to go with a 2.3 stroker. From what I hear (local shops and local cars) is that the strokers are extremely weak at the crank. Out local 10 second DSM brok 3 cranks and a weisco piston within 2 months of his rebuild at 580 WHP. I would reccommend sticking with the 2.0.

How many miles are on your dsm? If it's more then 80k then watchout for spinning a rod bearing..... you dont wanna lose the core charge. As long as you dont put any holes through the block its easy to swap out a non machined longblock for yours (providing you do the machin work with the shop)

With the setup you have the only thing that could hold you back is the tune or driving, and it sounds as if you have the tune part in check so it looks to me as its all up to your driving. I went [email protected] on pump gas with a 50 trim and less mods then you have listed for your setup. I dont think 11s is what you should be aiming for with a gt35r you should be looking for 10s, aim higher. Also dont worry about the 7bolt, people under estimate it all the time my [email protected] was on a stock 7bolt with mls hg arps 272s and bs delete stock 2g tb and intake mani. Just keep the knock to a min and you will be golden and when you smoke it build a narly 6 bolt and be done with it.

20 posts and nobody has mentioned anything about the drivetrain?!

What are you launching at on track days? You will definitely need some sort of built transmission, be it a shep or TRE, especially if you go with a destroked 2.1 and rev it to 9k. And some diff work. Axles too.

With either of those turbos you should be deep into the 11's with some sort of driving skill. If you have all that and are still in the 12's than instead of dropping more cash into the motor take a drag racing class at your local drag strip and learn how to cut a good light and the methodology of staging, and tire pressures vs tire temperatures vs traction. Invest in a temperature gun for your tires after you learn how it can be useful to you. If you really want to see what your car can do hand your keys to one of the seasoned/consistent AWD racers on a track night and see how much faster they are than you. I'll bet they'll chop at least 2 or 3 tenths off your best time on their first run.

He wont need any sort of a built tranny until the one he has now grenades. People go in the 11s all the time on a stock tranny. Save the built tranny for when you need a replacement not get one just because.

--Lets not pay any attention to it till it blows up!-- typical DSMer. And there is nothing wrong with that. That was me 5 years ago. Face it, its going to happen. Plan for it.

He should at least leave some cash set aside for when it does, because it will. People may do it "all the time" and all I have to say about that is "not for long." After all, 11 seconds is 3 seconds faster than what that transmission was built for. Would suck to drop all your pennies on the car to break a tranny and have it sit for days because you didn't figure in the inevitable(remember, he said this was his track/race car, meaning, when its driven, its beaten on-meaning drivetrain problems WILL happen).

Trust me, been there, done that. I'd rather be like "oh darn its blown up, whats Jon Shepherds number again?" rather than "oh crap, boom--now I have to save up like 3Gs for a good tranny!"

I would suggest replacing your fuel filter while your doing the rest of your fuel system. What about an o2 housing? EGT gauge, Oil pressure gauge? Stick with the 1g intake/tb & 2g tb elbow? plenty of people are in the 11's with that. Tial wastegate?? what bov do you have ready to put on the uicp?

that will give you guys a look at some of the mods that i have forgot to list...

I'm not worried about breaking stuff because i know it happens, i had the chance to learn to drive about a year and a half back from one of my buddy's here in town, he tought me TONS of things... Driving will not be a problem...

the pictures were taken about a month back and i will get some updated pics soon
