I was just curious if anyone has any real data on the difference in performance or expected time before failure between the 270 deg. and 360 deg. thrust bearing.

My T04b V-trim apparently has the 270 thrust bearing. I'm also curious as to what the cost difference would be between the two and if any turbo could interchange between the two thrust bearings.

I guess what I'm also wondering, is that if the cost difference is not too great and the 360 is far superior (more rugged), then why wouldn't all vendors put the 360 in all of their high flow-rate turbos--since more than likely they will expect to see quite a bit of abuse...(especially from us DSMers) !

Cost. The Garrett CHRA's come with the 270* bearing, so to machine it to accomodate the 360* TB + the TB itself adds to the price. Now that everyone and their dog is selling Garrett Hybrids at an ever diminishing cost/profit margin. So to stay competitive, Vendors are selling turbos with the lower cost 270* CHRA with the option to "upgrade".

I think the average "upgrade" price is $100.
