Ah, well a lot of anxiety went away after smog tech said I passed.. So I'm a week or so late on my registration.. and I had to smog my car.. I was iffy to see if I was going to pass because of the mods I have..

pte t3/t4 50 trim turbo (with bling polished compressor housing)
660cc denso injectors
b&m fuel pressure regulator mod @ who knows what fp (gauge not installed)
walboro 190 fuel pump
safc ii
3" turbo back, (3" high flow cat")
greddy type s
greddy fmic
dejon hard pipes
3.5' intake pipe
k&n filter
and usual other stuff..

i went to my usual spot and did a pre test.. dood said i would fail.. something bout the HCs being too much (100+) i dont know wat i was doing so i just leaned it out big time on the afc.. but even then said i would fail.. he even mentioned iw as runnign too lean and the engine wasnt running smooth (mis-firing).. so i said fugk it and put back the stock injectors.. this time around said it was all good and prepared to continue with the rest of the test.. but as he was fiddling aroudn with the computer.. something came up and said..

"this car must be taken to referee/test only station"

i was like aw fugk.. so i went to this test only place close by.. did all the tests and bling bling passed.. here were the idle emission test reults

Congrats! It's not easy to do these days... with all of the friggin new rules and different shops you gotta go to now, it's getting ridiculous. I'm surprised you passed the visual. PM me with the station info.


If all things fall into place this summer I won't have to worry about the shitty CA smog checks anymore :D
 
wow, all that and he passed u visually?? can u pm me where this place is located.. because my car is a gross polluter.. i think i have to go back to a test only station again this year... smogged it last year at test only station but that was when it was bone stock no mods at all

It's always stressful to smog here in Cali. DSMs seem to be sent more and more to Test Only centers.

BTW, to avoid late fees/penalty, you can register without a smog certificate.

yea i realized that after it was late LOL..

also a note for those who know u cant pass smog. but its ur only car.. u can keep getting an extension.. for a year and perhaps more..
 
Dude! What's up? I recently passed too, but I had to change my loacation from San Jose to San Luis Obispo. I just reinstalled my stock downpipe, turned down the timing/fuel thanks to DSMLink, and passed with flying colors. Well below the national average emission levels. :thumb:
 
should stock injectors on a zeroed out safc be able to pass just as well as a stock car?

should.. i zeroed out my afc settings..

i dont know how much of a difference it will be for the FWD guys because your cars will be under load.. as for the AWD guys.. its a simple 2500 idle test..

and most places you get a discount because you don't have to use the roller.... try passing with an external wastegate though :(

running an external gate should be a insta-fail on the visual. though at 2500rpm in neutral it has no effect on the emissions whatsoever. and 2500rpm on a fwd on the rollers it would have no effect either. stupid cali.

as long as youre on stock injectors and are hot overrunning your fpr and are zeroed out i dont see any reasons not to pass. visual is the hardest part, gotta run stock bcs and make sure all the lines and emissions crap is hooked up right(which you really shouldnt need to be touching that crap anyways, it has 0 hp gains). gotta hook up stock uicp piping.bov(and if a fmic hope they dont notice, most hupty shops wont).

I passed a Test Only Center this month and I have the following:

K&N FIPK
Greddy Profec B II - I no longer run the stock BCS
RRE UICP
Greddy Type S
Stock 99 GSX ECU - many ECUs from 'bishi are defective and will fail the monitor readiness test.

Thomas91169 is right about an External Wastegate failing you instantly, and also an aftermarket FPR. I have seen alot of guys pass with an FMIC

It's all about the Visual Inspection. If you fail one, they will not even run your car on the roller or go thru the process if it's AWD.
 
pff, smog. :p *sits back in a lawnchair with a 'refreshment' waiting on ups* u should see some of the cars that roll by my house. no smog test here, its great :rocks: no worries
