today i was thinking of ways to make my greddy type s bov louder without venting. i remembered how when my rubber intercooler piping was on how quiet it was and after i upgraded to aluminum, how i could hear the air wooshing. soo i thought about how much the rubber recirculation hose was absorbing the sound of the bov...went to orchard supply with my recirulation hose in hand and matched it with a similar in shape aluminum piping (was long and bent 90 degrees at the end) the metal piping wouldnt fit snug on the bov or intake so i cut little 1 inch long sections of the rubber hose off and put it on the bov and intake and THEN put the aluminum piping on and it fits snug and looks GREAT. the bov is now at least twice as loud and has a higher cooler sounding shriek thanks to the solid aluminum and it seriously looks awesome right next to my uicp. almost as loud as venting and none of the side effects :thumb:
oh and it was 6.99 and has a beautiful mirror polish which looks the same as my uicp

i beleive the piping was 1.5 inch diamater by 11 3/4 inch length and it had the 90 degree bend at the end

check my gallery, this picture is from october, hard recirculation pipe, I beat you to that one man! This one is pvc, but i have since painted it silver to match my intecooler pipes. Good job on the metal one though, i like it.

that's actually a cool idea...make it sound like it's venting without the hassle...awsome man...looks good...any chance u can post up a sound clip

ive already done that :p its a nice mod and very cheep kinda makes you happy :) its cool tho that you posted it, i wouldnt have thought the mod would be a big hit LOL.

Trust me, its way louder with the hard pipe. I get a lot of compliments on it and its EASILY heard with the windows up completely, even if you have exhaust. I posted this twice before though but it was on someone elses thread so i guess it didnt get much attention. Here is a few pictures since i painted it. It comes out kinda weird because it reflects back a lot of light.

I'm going to try to take some tonight when its getting dark.. if i remember.

Take the pictures without flash. If there is too much shake, adjust your camera for a fast shutter. If you have a tripod, that'll be even better too.

i wonder if homedepot has that piping...they pretty much have everything. i'm doing this next weekend when i get money...cool idea guys

going to have to do this mod when i get my type s. that looks sweet, and to bad we dont have a sound bite ;)

if ur willing to make a kit for us lazy ones...piping, and connectors shiet i'll buy it also

can you also post pics of the actual pipe and what its usually used for? I dont have a Orchard Supply here on the east coast. We have Home Depot. I'd love to get something like that for my car.

That's cool! My friend and I were thinking about getting a hardpipe recirculation tube for my car. As you can see, it's vented, I bought it that way.

Also, my Type S sits a very funny way, check in my gallery. I don't know if even a rubber recirc tube will fit! It'll either bend on the filter, or get bent by the hood.

i take the metal pipe over the pvc plastic...i trust metal over the material they make FisherPrice toys out of :D

but gj all of u that have done it, smart little trick
