Please, folks- we're in a clumsy time in the Signatures Department these days. But it could hardly be any more clear:

NO TEXT IS ALLOWED IN YOUR SIGNATURE.

You can post your name next to your picture, only.

No dittys. No witicisms. No modification lists. No ¼-mile times. No links. Not even your forum name.

Try to play along. Especially for now.

can i ask a few questions? what is with the stiff rules, i noticed that other fourms dont have such stiff sig rules. i understand the posting rules (no hot girls threads, ricer threads, advertisments and classifide threads) but why so harsh on the sigs?

Obviously way too many people are abusing the sig rules.

DSM tuners is a place to learn about cars, not other people. I would much rather read one post and go directly to the next instead of scrolling through 20 lines of a signature.

Although I dont see it neccessary to ban all text, It does make sense. Allowing some text only leads to arguments over what text should be allowed, and when a user is told they cannot have a certian text, they cry because so-and-so has the same thing in theirs. Also, this leaves it up to the Mods to regulate what people have in their sigs, instead of keeping the fourm ruley- and then it becomes a judgement call, and nobody likes being on the losing side of a judgement call. And besides, if users didnt abuse the Signature feature these Rules wouldnt be inplace.

I just hope it doesnt come to the removal of sig's all together. Honestly, we all own and drive cars, but we cant follow a few simple rules?

Im just glad we dont have avatars- god do I hate those things.

Oh, and Defiant, I think you should change your name to "Conformed"

We've been dealing with a bout of floutlaws in the signatures lately, and Ludachris figured if we can't play right, we can just do without dinner. He tried modifying things, but nothing was working.

If the NO TEXT rule was working, I'd not have had to make this topic.

Eh, it won't fit on a California plate. However, "Deviant" will.

how come tuners doesn't just nix the sig altogether... there's a profile for specs and pictures of your cars and whatnot.... would make things a lot easier, IMHO...

I think its easier to remember who I am talking to when I see the sig pic. Some of us are more visual than others, and with names like "9Z42HG10" it can get pretty complicated.

I don't see why not - the idea here, as I understand it, is that the mods (and most of us) really have no interest in seeing messages cluttered with extraneous sig text. I agree with this.

If you can fit something into the 250x250 imagesize limit, and still keep the image within the standing guidlines, then I don't see what'd be wrong with that.

Yes, in the sig rules we've recently added that text can be IN the graphic - BUT the text in the graphic cannot contain domain names, URLs, phone numbers, or other types of website or business promotional text.

Just read the rules and you shall know what is allowed.
