ok, well im going on my 3rd throw out bearing in 2 years... I have a act 2600, new fork, SS clutch line, longer slave rod, and pivot ball, and always use Mitzu TOB's .. the clutch is adjusted right, and the slave is bleed properly...

i jsut dont see why i am going through TOB's so much? RRE says that he longer slave rods are not good casue they put constant pressure on the TOB? Could that be my problem? hmmmmmmmmm.....

sounds reasonable to me. it might be a big trouble to pull the longer rod out and try the spacer on the pivot ball. but since you have to pull the tranny to do the TOB might as well give it a try. You might also contact RRE again and see what they suggest.

I've got a 1/4" longer slave rod and it doesnt apply constant pressure at all. All it does is give more adjustment on the master shaft. The master releases pressure when released. You can tell this is so by going under the car and pushing the release lever towards the slave and watching the slave rod retract pushing fluid back into the master.

so your sayin to put the stock rob back in, and throwin some spacers behind the pivot ball.... and if i desided to put the longer rod back in, then id imagine id have to take the tranny down and take that spacer out...... hmmm..... I dont know what to do.. if anything. Im changing out the TOB tomorrow.. well see what happens.

..well it wasnt my TOB after all........ Ok well this is why i THOUGHT it was the TOB.. i was driving on the highway, then came up to my off ramp, got on the ramp, down to the light and put it in nuetral.. well light turns green, i push in clutch... car dies... WTF??.. turn my music down, start her up, puch clutch in... grinding sound, then dies... WTF...try it again, but brought the RPM's up then pushed the clutch and got it in gear... grind, but i got it in gear... i babyed it to work where it sat till today........ Well below is a picture of the culprit,
the bolt that connects the trans to the block (the one that goes through the guide pin) .... Some how it broke inside the block. and without that bolt, when you push in the clutch, whats gonna happen??? (answer in next post) ...

Well with out that bolt, it allows the transmission to move when the clutch pedal is pushed. Now I have an AWD car... so when you move the trans away from the motor... what happens?... The transfer case moves towards the flywheel... UH OH!!!! OMG Well this is the case with me... jammed the t-case into the flywheel.. luckfully it wasnt to bad.. the fly wheel is ok, and the transfercase has a non-harmful gouge in it...

ps.. i changed the TOB while i was in there
