First thing first. THIs is my first how to article so please be patient.things needed -1 blade fuse holder -1 blade fuse(15amp) or higher. not recomended - 10 to 15 inches of wireProcedure1.Pop your hood and open your fuse box.Using the of the fuse box locate the fog light relay and the tail lamps fuse.2.get you fuse holder and put at least 5 inches of wire on each side3.remove your tail lamp fuse and attachone either side of your wire to either leg. the remaining wire goes to you fog light relay in the middle leg.(please make sure the wire only touches the middle leg)4.reinstall your relay and fuse where they go and thats it.pictures below speak for them selves, if u got any questions feel free...
This is a popular mod thats an old throw back to the muscle car days. There are many reasons to relocate the battery in your DSM. Moving the battery to the passenger side rear can help offset the weight of the driver for you road race guys. The main reason I chose to move the battery was to free up some space in the engine bay. The increased battery box size also allowd me to switch to an Optima Red Top battery. This increase in battery capacity allows me to crank that sucker at 20 degrees all day long. Here is the list of the parts that I used for the install: (All parts were purchased from Jegs)Optima Red Top Battery Group 34 753-9002-002 $179.99 Jegs Sealed Aluminum Battery...
Oxygen Sensor Wiring:For 1g: (From DSM Backup manual for 91 DOHC turbo) Looking from the wire side, the harness round connector has pin 1 in upper left, 2 upper right, 3 lower left, 4 lower right. This would also be the way it looks on the sensor round connector if looking at the connector with the wires on it's opposite side. (Can also see here: http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/bolt-tech/171244-o2-sensor-wiring.html#post1431571)Harness side: Red (pin 3 - goes to mpi relay for power) and black (pin 4 - goes to ground) are the heaters. White (pin 1 - goes to ECU pin 4) is signal. Black (pin 2) is signal ground (goes to engine ground on a 1g). The signal and signal ground are usually shielded.Sensor side: Every after market O2 has...
AEM UEGO WIDEBAND Install/Review Rick InacioThe AEM UEGO wideband gauge is a "MUST" for all tuners and boosted cars. With it's 0-5v output, it has the capability of logging with just about any stand alone unit out there. The UEGO is a 52mm gauge that makes it a perfect fit for any gauge pod or any custom mounting location. With easy to read interface air/fuel LCD display, it also shows 3 diffeant colours showing me just how lean or rish my car is running. The single channel AEM unit is accurate to a 0.1 air/fuel ratio and also comes with a Bosch 02 sensor (#30-4100). The UEGO needs no laptop or any other type of moniter to make it read. It's 24 Color-coded LED display lights provide immediate reading to engine’s air/fuel ratio or...
INTRO I did the install with an Apex'i TT on a 95 Talon TSi so those with Greddy's, it should be similar.Follow Turbo Timer install as per instructions that came with the timer, if you cant do this part, call an alarm shop or someone else how to do this. Also READ THIS WHOLE ENTIRE THING AND MAKE SURE YOU UNDERSTAND IT ALL AND COULD LOCATE EVERYTHING DECRIBED IN THIS ARTICLE BEFORE GOING DOWN THERE AND CUTTING UP WIRES AND SPLICING THINGS IN THE WRONG PLACES I WILL NOT BE RESPONSIBLE FOR STUPIDITYFun hacking part Most of this is from vFaq, so now on the driver side, under the fusebox down there and there should be a few relays and 3 or so harnesses. We are going to be playing with harnesses B-49 and B-66. If its easier...
This article was well researched and written because I could not find any tech articles on how to install aftermarket guage lights on a 2g using the factory dimmer switch. The majority I found are 1g articles and the installation process is a bit different. This article will explain how to wire your aftermarket guage lights using the factory dimmer switch in detail with pictures on a 1998 Eclipse GST.Assuming you have already installed your aftermarket guages (boost, air fuel ratio, exhaust temp., ect) I will go on from that step. However, this article was written installing two Autometer Ultra-Lite boost and exhaust temp. guages on a 98 GST. Certain guages may have different light set ups and may vary on how much of a charge they...
This is specifically for 1G GuysI made this simply for guys who are just starting out and are having a difficult time reading the manual they give you, just to install this little black box, which sometimes scares novice Dsm'ers when they see all these wires.Parts list of what you will need to make the MAF-T even useful. A 3” or 3.5” GM Mass Air Flow sensor. There are over 100 GM vehicles with this sensor. A list of all of the cars can be found on the internet, but ill give you a big list you can choose from, at the end of this post.. MAF-T (MASS AIRFLOW TRANSLATOR BOX). NEW “UICP” (Upper Intercooler Piping), this is so your GM MAS will connect properly to your “UICP” piping. I used Dejontool for their Blow...
Noticed in the forums that this question comes up quite often. So, here's the wiring colors for both a 1g and 2g that you need for the following Turbo Timers:Greddy Blitz HKS ========1g Wire Colors and Location:12v - WHITE at Ignition Harness IGNITION - BLACK/WHITE at Ignition Harness ACCESSORY - BLUE/BLACK at Ignition Harness========2g Wire Colors and Location12v - WHITE at Ignition Harness IGNITION 1 - BLACK/WHITE at Ignition Harness IGNITION 2 - BLUE/BLACK at Ignition Harness ACCESSORY - BLUE at Ignition Harness========Now, for the Turbo Timer Wire Colors...Greddy:RED - 12v GREEN - Ignition BLUE - Accessory BLACK - GroundHKS:RED - 12v GREEN - Ignition 1 YELLOW - Ignition...
How To Install AEM EMS Plug & Play AEM EMS for a 1995-1999 Eclipse Written by Mike Blageo Parts Needed: AEM EMS- 30-1310 MAP Sensor: (Choose one) AEM 3.5bar- 30-2130-50 AEM 5bar- 30-2130-75 GM 3bar- 12223861 Pigtail- 15305891 Intake Air Temp (IAT) Sensor: (Choose one) AEM IAT- 30-2010 GM IAT- 25036751 Pigtail- 12102620 3/8NPT Aluminum Bung- EAR-996703ERL Boost Control Solenoid (BCS): GM BCS- 1997152 Pigtail- 12102747 AEM BCS- 30-2400 ****Pigtails on list above go with the GM sensors not the AEM sensors. If you order the GM sensors you order the pigtail listed below it.**** I used the GM parts with pigtails. I purchased them from GMPartsdirect.com for about $180 to my door. AEM can be run with the factory MAF with...
This article will show how I installed a PLX M-200 wideband O2 sensor in my 2g eclipse. This particular model does not have a display because I chose to just use DSMLINK to view the values of the wideband. Basic Tools needed: 1. Dremel type tool w/ cut off wheel 2. Welder or someone that can weld for you 3. Adjustable wrench 4. Wire strippers 5. Shrink wrap and electrical tape 6. Solder iron 7. Air compressor with impact wrench (makes this a lot easier.) 8. Weld on O2 sensor bungFirst off disconnect the battery. I decided to use my MDP sensor input as the wideband input to the ECU. There are a few different inputs that you can use (front or rear O2), it just depends on your preference. I wanted to keep both the inputs...
How to test the power transistors (aka. ignition module or ignitor):This test will check the power transistors for go/no go operation. If it fails your transistor(s) are bad. Note that the power transistors may still be weak, intermittent, or fail with temperature which this test does not check for (although you can often make bad ones fail when you heat them with a hair dryer or heat gun which I strongly recommend). Background: This test is better than the one in the manuals (which use an ohmmeter) for the following reasons:1) The manual version requires an analog ohmmeter which most people don't have and can't get easily anymore (and why buy one for just this test?). A digital one, which all people have in their multimeter, will...
This is for those of you who are having problems with your tail lights after an Eclipse conversion.Due to the way the Talon's lighting was set-up from the factory, its is possible to have your tail lights illuminate just like the EDM Eclipses. This article will explain how to just that, as well as a slight alteration to the EDM lighting.Tools Necessary: Wire Cutters/Crimpers Butt Connectors Pliers Electrical Tape Phillips Screwdriver A pair (both sides) of harnesses from a 1G containing two dual-filament bulbs. A pair of 2G Talon tail light harnesses (a few people try to use the Eclipse harnesses which is where problems arise)Here is a diagram of the stock Talon harness:In case you are having problems...
Fastest 2 minute Alternator circuit check for charging on 1G & posibly 2G. I devised this test when troubleshooting an idiot charging light glowing when still charging correctly back in the mid 70s. It's still not common place but can be found in some publications.Assumes a reasonably charged battery though not an absolute for most of the tests will need only about 6 volts to activate the test light. The drive belt should be properly tensioned. At the very least try to spin the alternator cooling fan with fingers, should not slip. With a proper probe type test light connected to ground and the key off and done at the rear of the alternator.1) test the large B+ lead (White or possibly Red wire) and the terminal on the...
Similar to vfaq's tutorial I will show you how to create a rear o2 bypass/simulator using parts available from your local radio shack.Parts needed: 1 - Mohm resistor 3 - 50ohm/10watt resistors 1 - 1µF capacitor(It is possible to use other variations than the 50ohm/10watt resistors I have chosen, like I said this is what was available. Myself and others have proven that they work perfectly fine)I began by gathering all the parts required and I personally purchased a cheap aluminum box to contain everything once finished. To establish the best connection I would highly recommend soldering each connection. (also available at radio shack)One option would be to remove the entire sensor and line from the vehicle and attach it to...
I got quoted for the oem actuators for a little over 200 each!I think the pictures are sufficient enough to explain the retrofitting part of the door lock actuators. The rest is mostly common sense. Make sure to buy some DEI actuators and not some cheap ebay special ones. I bought them here http://www.autotechs.net/cat29.htm (you'll need one ds-2.1 per door)Just unplug the connector from the existing door actuator and figure out which two wires you'll need to connect to the new actuator. If you would like to keep the stock security system intact then you'll need to cut the two wires needed for the new actuator and plug the connector back into the old actuatorSpecial thanks to Jeremy Ho (WWDGuy) for helping me out
This is for a 2g (96). Don't know about other years, I suppose it would work the same.I take no responsibility for your actions, this is my suggested way of doing it, because it worked for me. If you spray fuel in your eyes and then get lit up by a spark, it's not my fault. If anything breaks because you messed it up, again, not my fault. Always wear the proper safety equipment when working on/around your car.First thing's first: assemble your tools.I used:Various Socket wrenches Good Phillips Head Screw Driver Patience CursingStep one:Disconnect the battery. We do this so in case you spill fuel when removing the fuel rail, you don't start a fire because a spark goes off when that liquid finds it's way into an...
Hey guys. After seeing some guy trying to rip DSMers off in the classifieds section I decided to show you how to do this yourself. He was charging 15-20 dollars for this when it only cost 8 to buy at your local auto store.here is the link to ScoobyMods where I first read it.http://www.scoobymods.com/forums/showthread.php?t=5468I bought this myself and will be installing it soon so ill get pics up after I do it personally.
Sorry no pictures. You can place 61/2's in the back of GST & GSX's I did just the other day. 1) remove the interior body work. 2) remove 1 6x9 speaker. 3) get a piece of MDF 1/2inch thick and trace out your 6x9 onto it twice. 4) Use a jigsaw and cut out the adaptors. 5) Center the new speaker template onto the adaptors. 6) Cut out the center of the template (test fit the speaker a rough round file will smooth out any imperfections). 7) Remove the stock speaker pods. 8) Mount the adapter plate onto the pods (without the speakers in them). 9) Spray paint flat black to hide them. 10) Place the speaker onto the adaptor and mark the mounting holes. 11) Drill pilot holes for the mounting screws. 12) Solder (or crimp)on the new...
This is for the non-turbo sypder owners out there. Okay this is really simple to do. First off you will need a fuse BLADE holder with enough wire to run from the fog lamp fuse to the taillight relay. Second get you will an extra fuse which needs be cut it in half (does not matter if it is blowen or not) it's just used to hold the wire in place. Okay once you have remove the fog lamp fuse (do not throw it away because you are going to need that fuse) and the taillight relay take one of the wires from the fuse holder and place it in pin#4 which in the middle second one from the bottom facing the fender (first left to right it goes from pin#1 to pin#3 across the top and pin#4 is in the center facing towards to the passenger side...
Here's yet another way to rewire your fuel pump. I like this method because you can just grab a relay from a junked DSM and it'll snap right into your factory setup for a nice clean install. It keeps all your fuses together and it also puts the ground wire under the dash so it is easy to install a hidden fuel pump kill switch within reach of the driver. It's also dirt cheap to do. The only thing I bought was a length of 12ga wire. I already had everything else lying around the garage thanks to a spare toasted wiring harness and some junkyard relays I had.1. If you pull the knee guard on 1g's (not sure on 2g's) there are a few empty sockets where relays can go. You'll be using one of these as well as an empty fuse holder under the...
Turbo Timer Hardwire Install Instructions on a 1GAFirst of all, I recommend the hardwire method of install over paying money for a harness, unless of course you absolutely hate wiring. This walkthrough will work for 90% of turbo timers out there, as they generally all use the same base wire color. What you will need:- Turbo Timer - Razor blade or exacto-knife - Scissors or wire-strippers - Electrical Tape - extra 18 gauge wire (aprox. 4 feet) - extra 22 gauge wire (aprox. 2 feet) - Zip Ties1. On the lower dash (under the steering wheel), pop off the square bolt covers and remove the 4 bolts holding the lower dash on. You don't have to do this next step, but its easier if you remove the hood release lever by...
1. Disconnect the negative cable the battery. 2. On the driverside remove the console bottom cover. It has (1) one screw beside the acceleration and right in the middle it has a cover that has to be popped off to get to the snapp press gentle pull the panel forward to exposse a (4) four wire pig tail with the colors of white(singal wire) black(ground) red(power)which comes on when the key is turned to the on to start postion and yellow/green wire(neutral). NOTE: you may have to pull the carpet back a little to see the (4) wire harness, but it is right beside the driver seat. 3. Take your air/fuel ratio gauge connect the purple wire to the white wire, the black wire to the black wire and the red wire to the red wire. Reconnect your...
Well I just got piss tired of leaning over to open the door for anyone in my passenger seat, and tired of going back to the car to make sure I locked it, and tired of touching the door locks, scratching the outside with a key every night, all of that. So I decided to get power door locks. The local shop wanted 1400. If I had 1400 I wouldn't have an NT. I decided I had the technical skills to do this myself. You can do it too.Heres what you will need:Tools: Pliers (to cut wires) Needlenose pliers if you got big hands Wire crimper or soldering iron (whichever you prefer) Screwdrivers A size 10 socket and wrenchThats all you need in tools. Now if you know how to use those tools, you can do this.Supplies: Ebay power...
